Category:Pharmacy booksDiplo and Major Lazer brought their music and the technology they developed for their most recent collabo to the masses at last weekend’s Global Citizen Festival at the Central Park Summer Stage in New York City. The unique concert series, which aims to raise awareness about global problems like poverty and climate change, was played in tandem with the documentary film “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” and had a special emphasis on new technology and how it can be used to make a positive impact on the world. Both were important topics of discussion at the concert as well as Diplo’s talk with local charity telethon Tiësto’s “Grassroots Day” crew.
“This was a festival of music, and I got to collaborate with Tiësto, Major Lazer, Gorillaz, The Weeknd, Biz Markie, The Avalanches and Travis Scott on some new projects,” says Diplo. “They’re really big, heavy hitters. Working with them was like a dream. This was the most unreal festival experience ever. It was like being a fly on the wall and watching the most amazing artists, like Kendrick Lamar and Nas, do a special performance for an audience. They were doing an amazing rendition of ‘Stan,’ and I was just like, I can’t be here.”
Major Lazer also brought their unique blend of dance-pop, hip-hop, dancehall and reggae to the festival stage. “It was definitely a game-changing event,” says founder DJ and producer Diplo. “They had some of the biggest DJs and musicians performing for the first time in a concert. And it was interactive. The fans were going crazy. We did a lot of tech work with the festival and showed them how to use their smartphones, and they put them up on the big screens. At the ac619d1d87
